Resentment is the receipt.
If care were simply care, it would not leave a balance. It leaves one because part of you was using it to secure something: a place, a calm room, being chosen, being needed. When the thing you were quietly buying does not come, or comes and does not feel like enough, the anger arrives, and it is aimed at the people you helped, which makes no sense to you and feels terrible.

What this can look like
Tap any that sound like you.
02
Why awareness is not enough
You already know you overgive. Knowing has not stopped it, because the giving is not a habit, it is a strategy serving a rule, and the rule is doing something your system considers essential. On fixing as a strategy.
03
Several things may be underneath
"If they didn't need me, why would I be here?"
Care buys a role. Resentment arrives when the role feels like all you are.
Read about Needed →"If everyone is okay, I am okay."
Care prevents upset. Resentment arrives when keeping everyone okay costs you everything.
Read about Peace →"Asking creates a debt."
You give so you never have to receive. Resentment arrives because nobody can give back to someone who refuses.
Read about Burden →04
Same caretaking, different rules
Resents being taken for granted. Wants to be seen as essential.
Resents the exhaustion. Wants the room to stay calm without her holding it.
Resents that nobody helps. Has made herself impossible to help.
05
What to notice next time it happens
Do not try to stop it. Try to catch it.
- What was the exact trigger? The second, not the topic.
- What did your body do first?
- What did the moment seem to mean about you?
- What did you immediately want to do?
- What were you protecting against? What would have happened if you had not?
Add one: what were you hoping would happen after you helped?

How subtraction approaches it
Subtraction does not add another explanation. It takes the ones you have, plus moments from your actual week, and removes the explanations that cannot account for what keeps happening. What survives can be written down plainly enough to recognize the next time it fires. How subtraction works.
